Butler County Coroner Bill Young identified the 54- year-old man who drowned in Moraine State Park’s Lake Arthur Friday evening.

The victim was identified as Kiran Rebello of Ontario, Canada.

Young said Rebello was in Butler on vacation with his family and that the cause of death was accidental drowning.

Butler County’s water rescue team and members of Unionville Fire Department recovered Rebello after he disappeared underwater off the Lakeview Beach area at the park’s North Shore around 4:30 p.m. Friday.

According to Dustin Drew, park manager, Rebello lost his footing and fell into a 16-foot drop-off in the water after trying to retrieve an object.

Crews found Rebello around 6 p.m. A second drowning victim was transferred for evaluation by Portersville Muddy Creek EMS.
