Wilbur C. Bowser
Wilbur C. Bowser Sr., 76, of 237 Stitt Hollow Road, Ford City, died Thursday at Kittanning Care.
He was born Nov. 29, 1933, in Perry Township to Wilbur Jackson Bowser and Florence Aikens Bowser.
He was a member of the U.S. Army, from which he retired in August 1971. He served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War, where he earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star.
He worked at Pullman Standard and Davidson Sand and Gravel, where he was a member of the Operating Engineers.
He was a handyman who helped everyone in Stitt Hollow and he loved old cars.
He is survived by his wife, Yula, who he married Jan. 2, 1955. He is also survived by his son, Will C. Bowser and his wife, Clara, of Martinsburg; five daughters, Janie Davis and her husband, Doc, of West Newton, Tina Dolan and her husband, Bob, of Manor Township, Sandy Stitt and her husband, Rodger, of Manor Township, Mary Bowser of Normalville, and Lisa Bowser of Manor Township; three brothers, Gerald Bowser and his wife, Jean Ann, of East Brady, Mervin Bowser and his wife, Viola, of East Brady, and Cutty Bowser and his wife, Marge, of Poseytown; four sisters, Mary Potts and her husband, Dean, of Frogtown, Rita Little of Ohio, Violet Draa of Punxsutawney, and Margie Radaker and her husband, Larry, of Hawthorn; and eight grandchildren, Amanda, Scotty, Ashley, Robby, Corey, Cordell, Andrew and Brianna.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Bowser.
<B>BOWSER</B> Friends of Wilbur C. Bowser Sr., who died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010, will be received at the <B>MANTINI FUNERAL HOME</B>, Ford City, from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be Sunday at the Kittanning Church of God at 1 p.m. with Pastor Robert W. Grimm presiding. Burial will be at Lawn Haven Cemetery.
