Morning crash on Route 8 injures 2
MERCER TWP — Butler state police are investigating the cause of a three-vehicle accident that occurred along Route 8 this morning.
According to state police, a northbound truck hauling logs collided first with a southbound flatbed pickup before colliding with an SUV that was traveling behind the pickup.
The driver of the JNS Trucking vehicle carrying the timber, whose name was unavailable, and the driver of the SUV, Shelly R. Miller, 51, of Franklin, were taken to Grove City Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
Dustin Houpt, 27, of Harrisville, the pickup driver, was apparently not injured.
The accident scene, about a mile north of Harrisville, covered more than 200 feet. The northbound truck was wrecked into the small hillside along the southbound berm, the extensively damaged Jeep Grand Cherokee was sitting on its driver's side in the southbound lane.
While the accident, which was reported to Butler County 911 at 7:02 a.m., was cleared, alternating one-way traffic was restricted to a single lane.
