Larry G. Bandura

Larry G. Bandura, 68, of Manorville, Pa., passed away Sunday, July 10, 2022, at his residence.

He was born in Piacenza, Italy, on July 31, 1953. Immediately after birth, he was placed in an orphanage where he lived until he was adopted through Catholic Charities of Pittsburgh by his parents, Tom and Mary Bandura. At the age of six, Guiseppe was placed on an airplane and transported across the Atlantic by himself to meet his adopted parents at New York International Airport. Having no knowledge of the English language or American culture, Guiseppe began his new life in America.

He was a member of Christ, Prince of Peace Parish, serving on the pastoral council. He formerly worked at Creekside Mushroom Farm, Sylvan Inc. and Manor Township Water Authority, from where he retired in 2016. After his retirement, he worked part-time at Dairy Queen and as a maintenance worker at St. Mary, Our Lady of Guadalupe in Kittanning.

LB enjoyed being active and found it difficult to sit around, which became a cross he had to bear after suffering a serious head injury in 2020. He also belonged to the Latin American Club and Knights of Columbus, where he was a third-degree member. LB served his community as a former mayor of Manorville Borough and as current borough council member. He also volunteered at Manor Township Fire Department, where he served as the fire police captain for many years.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 37 years, Cindy Bandura, of Manorville; his son, Father Tyler Bandura, of New Alexandria; his brother, Tom Bandura and his wife Janet, of Prospect; and his sister, Jeannine Bandura.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Teresa Coleman and Ester Gottardi Valendino.
