George Buchanan
George H. Buchanan, 80, of Butler passed away at 8:33 a.m. Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 28, 1930, in Butler. He was the son of the Ellsworth Buchanan and Bessie Kuhn Buchanan, who are deceased.
Mr. Buchanan was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War.
He was a welder with 27 years of service at Pullman Standard until it closed. He was a member of the Clarion VFW.
Mr. Buchanan also was an artist, hunter and fisherman. He could play the spoons, washtub and loved to dance, especially the polka, waltz and jitterbug. He also loved his grandchildren.
He is survived by one daughter, Joyce Buchanan of Butler; two grandsons, Colt Rankin of Latrobe and Kerry Buchanan of Butler; and one great-granddaughter, Chloe Rankin. Also surviving are two sisters, Hazel Robson of Hooker and Dorothy Mincer of Butler, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Buchanan, who passed away May 3, 2007, and by one brother.
<B>BUCHANAN</B> — Friends of George H. Buchanan, 80, of Butler, who passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, will be received at the <B>WILLIAM F. YOUNG FUNERAL HOME</B>, 132 Main St., from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will follow with the Rev. Robert V. Mathias, retired Presbyterian minister, officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery.
