John G. 'Jack' Fischer

John G. "Jack" Fischer, 75, of Butler passed away Saturday, Jan. 24 in Nevada.

He was born July 10, 1933, in Chattanooga, Tenn., to George and Josephine Fischer.

He was married to Marie "Dolly" Fischer for 55 years. They resided in their Penn Township home. They had two sons and three daughters.

During the Korean Conflict, Jack served four years in the Air Force.

As a former resident of Penn Township, Jack retired from AK Steel, formerly Butler Armco, with 38 years of service.

Jack loved traveling with his family on vacations to the beach and camping trips. Additionally, he enjoyed flying radio-controlled model airplanes and was a member of BAMS. Jack also was an active member of the Cubs in Butler, where he volunteered his services.

Jack was an avid golfer for those who knew him well. He never missed a chance to be in the serene settings it provided and enjoyed the camaraderie of some of his lifelong friends and simply golfing with his sons.

For the last seven years, Jack and Dolly spent their winters in Phoenix, Ariz., at his second home, where he enjoyed the weather and loved golfing and spending time with his wife and their friends.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Fischer of Butler; two sons, Thomas Fischer and his wife, Anita, of Chicora and E. Scott Fischer and his wife, Robin, of West Sunbury; and three daughters, Debra Santavicca and her husband, Carl, of Akron, Ohio, Jolyn Burns and husband, Randall, of West Sunbury and Cheryl Kretzer and her husband, Mark, of Butler. He also was survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Siblings surviving are a brother, James Fischer and his wife, Karen, of Butler, and two sisters, Georgia Mae Gaiser of Fenelton and Mary Louise Hougg of Butler.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Fischer; and a sister, Wilda Alvey.

<B>Fischer </B>— Friends of John G. Fischer, who died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the <B>Thompson-Miller Funeral Home</B>, 124 E. North St. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Terry West of the Harrisville Branch Church officiating.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Cubs, 113 S.
