County commissioners approve $22K for clock tower repair
During the Butler County Commissioners’ meeting Wednesday, a $22,515 contract was approved to repair the county clock tower in Diamond Park in Butler.
County facilities and operations director Mike Hillwig said the gear drives on all four clocks in the tower will be updated and surge protection will be added to help protect the clocks from damage caused by lightning strikes.
He said two county employees will assist in the repair so they can learn about the process, but the contractor has to do the work for the repairs to be covered by a warranty.
The contract was awarded to the Verdin Company.
