William A. Turk
William A. “Bill” Turk, 96, of Erie died Nov. 27 at the Preque Isle Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, surrounded by his loving family. It pleased God to take him home on that day.
He was born in Hilliards on May 3, 1914, the son of the late Harry and Maude Thompson Turk.
He was a school teacher for 10 years and then was a claims adjuster for Nationwide Insurance for 35 years.
He was a loyal, honest man of integrity who loved his wife, his children, his extended family, his country and his community.
He was a good neighbor who lived in Erie for 50 years.
He attended the Erie First Free Methodist Church, was a 32nd degree Free Mason, and he belonged to the NRA. He enjoyed reading and writing poetry.
He is survived by his wife, Victoria, who he married on Nov. 2, 1938; four daughters, Gayle (Robert) Hopkins of Millcreek, Vickie Kenehan of Erie, Debra (John) Swindlehurst if Millcreek and Sharon (Michael) Salina of Florida; 23 grandchildren; 22 great- grandchildren; and two sisters, Edna Cemate and Florence Parenti.
He was greatly loved and sadly will be missed.
