Volk

William E. "Buckeye" Volk, 76, of 1797 Thompson Road, Fawn Township, Allegheny County, died Saturday at the Saxony Health Center after a three-year illness.

Born Jan. 20, 1930, in Spangler, Cambria County, he was the son of Raymond and Catherine J. McGaughey Volk.

He retired from PPG, Paint Division, in 1994 after 30 years.

He served in the Army from 1947 to 1950.

He was a member of Holy Martyrs Parish, Sacred Heart St. Peter Worship Site in Tarentum.

He was a member of the Tarentum Eagles, the Brackenridge American Legion and the National Riffle Association.

He served as a scout master of Troop 396 in Fawn Township for 12 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by five sons, Raymond W. Volk of Fawn Township, Kelly L. Volk of Lower Burrell, Kenneth J. Volk of Haughton, La., and John and William Volk, both of Tarentum; four daughters, Cathy Shaffer of Butler, Deborah Volk of Russelton, Tammy Patterson of Winfield Township and Tracy L. Volk of Fawn Township; 29 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora M. Kelly Volk, who died in 2002.

VOLK — Friends of William E. "Buckeye" Volk, who died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the DUSTER FUNERAL HOME, 347 E. Tenth St., Tarentum.There will be additional visitation from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at theASKEW-HOUSER FUNERAL HOME, Ebensburg. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Name Roman Catholic Church in Ebensburg. Monsignor Arnold L. Gaus, pastor of Holy Name Roman Catholic Church, will officiate.Burial will be at Holy Name Cemetery in Ebensburg.
