John Robert Stumpf
John Robert Stumpf, 92, of Gerner Road in Cabot died Sunday of natural causes at his home .
Born Jan. 20, 1913, in Aliquippa, he was a son of John D. and Helen T. Flanagan Stumpf.
He was a retired machinist and had worked at Penn Dixie Cement for 25 years before retiring as foreman of the machine shop in 1972. He also was a road supervisor for Winfield Township during the 1970s.
Mr. Stumpf was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cabot and also attended St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville.
He enjoyed the outdoors and took pleasure in camping and gardening. He was an avid reader. He also was an unpublished author having written several short stories.
Surviving are a son, Dr. A.D. Stumpf of Madisonville, Ky.; four daughters, Mrs. Barbara Diehl of New Freedom, Mrs. James (Margaret "Peg") Moser of Cabot, Mrs. Terence (Martha Louise) Spratlen of Layton, Utah, and Mrs. James (Mary Ann) Davidson of Woodstock, Ga.; a brother, Donald Stumpf of Cabot; and a sister, Roseann Stumpf of Cabot. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
His wife, Dora Owen Purman Stumpf, whom he married June 27, 1938, died Aug. 26, 2002. Two sons and two daughters also preceded him in death.
STUMPF - There will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian burial for John Robert Stumpf, who died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005, will be celebrated at the convenience of the family.
