Pickup, trailer stolen from excavating company

BUTLER TWP — A burglar or burglars over the weekend targeted an excavating business and made off with a pickup truck and cargo trailer loaded with tools, township police said.

The break-in and theft happened between noon Saturday and this morning.

Stolen from Shockey Excavating on Shockey Lane was a white, 2004 Ford pickup with toolboxes on top of the bed rails.

The company logo is emblazoned on the doors of the truck, which had the Pennsylvania license plate XYN-1123.

Also taken was a silver, 2011 Lark cargo trailer, which at the time displayed the Pennsylvania license plate XGN-5490.

The vehicles were in a garage at the Shockey complex. The burglar got inside after breaking the glass on a door to the garage, said township Police Lt. John Hays

He said today that police had no suspects but they are pursuing leads.

Police said the suspect or suspects loaded the truck and trailer with tools before the vehicles were driven away.

Meanwhile, about 10 a.m. today the owner of another cargo trailer parked at the same business reported that the license plate was missing from his trailer.

The burglar, police said, may have placed that missing Pennsylvania plate XGY-235 on the stolen trailer.

Anyone with information about the crime or the whereabouts about the stolen vehicles is asked to call police at 724-285-9600, or 911.
