John L. Steinhiser
John L. Steinhiser, 92, of Cabot passed away peacefully on Tuesday at his family home surrounded by his loving family.
Born at that same family home on May 25, 1918, he was the son of Harry and Alice (Fishpaw) Steinhiser.
John was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was assigned as a personal guard to Gen. Douglas MacArthur in the 738th MP Battalion Company D during the war.
He retired from the Bessemer & Lake Erie Railroad after 25 years.
He was a member of St. Mary's of the Assumption Church in Herman, where he served as a minister of Holy Communion. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 648.
John was a devoted husband, father, uncle and grandfather, and he especially enjoyed being a great-grandfather. He loved family gatherings and parties. He also enjoyed going out to eat with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret (Horn) Steinhiser, who he married Nov. 30, 1957; his five children, Bruce (Lisa) Steinhiser, Janet Steinhiser, Susan (Edward) O'Leath, John (Gail) Steinhiser and Amy (Sam) Lawson; his 13 grandchildren, Cathleen (James) Martin, Steven (Missy) O'Leath, Jeffrey O'Leath, Sean Steinhiser, Matthew Steinhiser, Scott O'Leath, Phillip Steinhiser, Nicholas Steinhiser, Erik Steinhiser, Andrew Steinhiser, Samantha Lawson, Trent Lawson and Trevor Lawson; and his four great-grandchildren, Kaylee O'Leath, Kaleb O'Leath, Connor Martin and Colleen O'Leath.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers. He was the last member of his immediate family.

Main St., Saxonburg, on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.A Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church in Herman with his nephew, Rev. Dismas Young, and Rev. Ward Stakem officiating.
