Lawson Grant McCall

Lawson Grant McCall, 79, of Double Road, Renfrew, passed away at 10:43 a.m. Sunday at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Dec. 22, 1929, in Clarion County, he was the son of the late John Clifford McCall and Leila Gertrude Fowler McCall.

Mr. McCall was a member of St. John's Reformed Church.

Early on, Mr. McCall worked as a heavy machine operator and then he worked at Spang. He retired from Spang on Dec. 31, 1991.

He was a member of the Senior Citizens Bowling League at Family Bowlaway.

He was a graduate of Union High School in Rimersburg and a veteran of the U.S Marines, serving during the Korean War.

He loved to tinker and was well known for bringing lawnmowers back to life.

God gave him a beautiful tenor voice, and he and wife, Pat, sang many duets in praise of the Lord in church. He also loved to garden and to care for his yard.

He loved his family and will be sadly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Dunn McCall. They were married Oct. 13, 1951. Also surviving are two sons, John McCall and his wife, Brenda, of Butler and Mark McCall and his wife, Melanie, of Kittanning; his grandchildren, Seth McCall, Wade McCall, Hope McCall, Luke McCall and Chad McCall, all of Butler, and Sara McCall of Fort Drum, N.Y.; great-grandchildren, Landon McCall and Kendra McCall, both of Butler; one brother, Charles McCall of Renfrew; three sisters, Helen Schubert of Renfrew, Mrs. Sam (Dorothy) Slagle of Parker and Mary Kriebel of Mercer; four nieces; and four nephews.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, one brother, one sister, one niece and one nephew.

<B>MCCALL </B>— Friends and family of Lawson Grant McCall, who died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at <B>THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME INC.</B>, 124 E. North St. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Robert Peterson of St. John's Reformed Church officiating.
