Vernice A. Leonard, 100, of Beuna Vista, Chicora, died at noon Friday at her home.

She was born Oct. 3, 1905, in Oakland Township, the daughter of Sherman and Amanda Byers Swartzlander.

In her younger years she worked on the family farm and did housework for people in the Chicora area.

Mrs. Leonard is survived by one daughter, Florine Leonard of Buena Vista, Chicora.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd R. Leonard, who died in 1969.

<B>LEONARD</B> - Friends of Vernice A. Leonard, who died Friday, Oct. 21, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Mark A. Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Hemphill Cemetery in Chicora.
