Jesse A. Calhoun

Jesse A. Calhoun, 75, of Mansfield, Tioga County, and of Renova in Clinton County, died Saturday at his home in Mansfield surrounded by his family and soul mate.

Born Dec. 4, 1930, in Gleasonton, Clinton County, he was the son of Jesse D. and Leah Baughman Calhoun.

He had been a head auto mechanic at Consolidated Natural Gas, Leidy Station, Tamarack, Clinton County.

Mr. Calhoun was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church in Renova and attended the St. James Episcopal Church in Mansfield.

He was the treasurer of the New Maple Grove Cemetery Association in Leidy, Clinton County, and was a member of the Kettle Creek Sportsmen's Association. He also was a volunteer forest fire warden. For the past 10 years, his passion was buying and selling antiques and traveling.

He was an Army veteran and served in the post-World War II occupation of Germany.

His wife, Eva Watson Calhoun, preceded him in death.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Kelly Calhoun of Butler; a granddaughter, Rachel Calhoun of Butler; a foster brother, Howard "Sonny" Reese of Lock Haven, Clinton County; a sister and brother-in-law, Leah Jean and Stanley Barker of North Bend, Clinton County; a niece, Debra Barker of Mill Hall, Clinton County; and his soul mate and companion for nine years, Carole Schoonover of Mansfield.

<B>Calhoun </B>— A memorial service and communion for Jesse A. Calhoun, who died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the St. James Episcopal Church, Mansfield. A memorial service and communion also will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Trinity Episcopal Church, Saint Clair Avenue, Renova.A gathering of friends for food and remembrance will immediately follow both services in the parish hall.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the New Maple Grove Cemetery Association, c/o Kenneth W.
