Helen B. McDeavitt
Helen B. McDeavitt, 82, of Butler passed away at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday at the Good Samaritan Hospice Unit.
She was born Jan. 30, 1928, in Butler County, the daughter of the late Bert W. Snyder and the late Ethel (McCandless) Snyder.
Helen graduated from Butler High School in 1945 and from Slippery Rock University in 1948.
She was a retired teacher, having taught in Butler area schools for 32 years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Butler and the Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association.
Surviving are her husband, Earl McDeavitt, who she married June 4, 1948; a daughter, Deborah (Dennis) Groves of Lexington, Ky.; a son, Ronald (Pamela) McDeavitt of Harrisburg; six grandchildren, Christopher (BreAnna) Groves, Ashley Groves, Jonathan Groves, Andrew, Matthew and Gregory McDeavitt; and a sister, Ruth A. Sutton of Naples, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Garnet Snyder, and her brother, Carl Snyder.
<B>MCDEAVITT</B> — Friends of Helen B. McDeavitt, who died Tuesday, April 13, 2010, will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with her pastor, the Rev. David Maitland, officiating.
