Margaret “Peggy” Louise Schaffner-Wolcott went to be with her savior Monday, Aug. 1, 2022, after a yearlong illness.

Peggy was born Jan. 20, 1934, in Pittsburgh, and was raised in Butler by her mother, Alice Margaret Schaffner, and her father, Paul Thomson Wolcott. The Schaffners are a well-known family in Butler, having first settled there in the 1800s.

Peggy worked for Bell Telephone (AT&T) since graduating high school in 1952 until her early retirement in 1989. She moved to Las Vegas in the early 1990s, where she remained until her death at Pacifica’s Legacy Memory Care facility in Las Vegas.

Peggy, who never married, is survived by her only sister, Patty (Jake) Swingler of Mesquite, Nev.; nephews, Dean (Bonnie) Kirk of Butler and Rich (Heather) Kirk of Las Vegas, Nev.; nieces, Laura Carlson of Butler and Pam (Art) Garcia of San Diego, Calif.; as well as her many family members and friends in the Pittsburgh, Butler and Las Vegas areas. She will be greatly missed by everyone.

SCHAFFNER-WOLCOTTYOUNG FUNERAL HOME will be handling the arrangements for Margaret “Peggy” Louise Schaffner-Wolcott, who died Monday, Aug. 1, 2022.

She will be interred in Calvary Cemetery in Butler alongside her parents.
