Donna M. Slagel
Donna M. Slagel, 77, of Butler passed away June 29 at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born Oct. 9, 1937, in Lebanon, Mo., she was a daughter of the late Louis and Josephine (Weilert) Gabel.
She was employed as a stenographer by the U.S. Steel Co. in North Chicago for two years before her marriage.
She was a member of the St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church in Butler. She was president of The Blue Army and secretary of the St. Paul Parish Council, both for four years. She had made over 9,000 rosaries and they were distributed all around the world.
She enjoyed sewing and woodworking.
Surviving is her husband, David Slagel. They were married April 26, 1958.
Also surviving are her sons, Phillip (Rachel) Slagel of California and David (Deniese) Slagel of Butler; her daughter, Lisa (Joel) Ledford of Kansas; 18 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Carla Combs, and two sisters.
SLAGEL — There will be no public visitation for Donna M. Slagel, who died Monday, June 29, 2015.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 1660 N. Main St. Ext., Butler. The Rev. Nick Argentieri, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at the Butler County Memorial Park.Arrangements are by the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.
