Mary Christine Fowler Stewart, 94, of New Haven Court in Butler passed away at 6:55 a.m., May 6, 2010, at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot after an illness.

She was born in Madison Township, Clarion County, on May 24, 1915, and was a daughter of the late Harry N. Fowler and Viola May Mortimer Fowler.

She was a member of the Jerusalem United Church of Christ in Rimersburg, the Rimersburg Senior Center, the Rimersburg Lioness Club and the Madison Township Election Board.

She and her late husband had operated a farm in Madison Township and moved from the farm to Rimersburg in 1969.

She married Arthur Ardell Stewart on Aug. 28, 1937, in the Jerusalem United Church of Christ in Rimersburg, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 1964.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary Kathryn Culbertson Neely and her husband, William, of Meridian, and Kristen Adele Stimpert and her husband, Larry H., of Butler; five grandchildren, Douglas Scott Culbertson and his wife, Darla, of Butler, Marcie Lynn Hunter and her husband, Jeffrey, of Butler, Dennis Arthur Culbertson and his wife, Aimee, of Butler, Kara Adele Hohn and her husband, Michael, of Medina, Ohio, and Janae Lynn McLister of Butler; 12 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death, along with her parents and husband, are one daughter, Margie Carol Stewart on Dec. 23, 1962; four brothers, Wallace Fowler, Byron Fowler, Arnold Fowler and Vaughan Fowler; and five sisters, Garnet Stewart, Dorothy Fowler, Georgia Sedgwick, Helen Hawk and Lois Anderson.

<B>STEWART — </B>Friends of Mary Christine Fowler Stewart, who died Thursday, May 6, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>RICHARD A. HILLIS FUNERAL HOME</B> in Rimersburg. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Jack Gareis, pastor of the Jerusalem United Church of Christ, officiating.
