Female bicyclist injured after being hit by vehicle

A bicyclist was injured after being hit by a vehicle in Butler Township Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred at 8:49 a.m. at the intersection of Meridian Road and Deer Run Drive.

Butler Township Fire Department Station 3 Chief Dave Bestwick said one person was taken to the hospital from the scene by Butler Ambulance Service. The woman riding the bike suffered facial and leg injuries, police said. Police said she was potentially being flown to a medical facility, but no further information was available at the scene.

Butler Township police Officer Drew Blasko said the bicyclist was attempting to make a left turn onto Deer Run Drive, when a vehicle attempted to go around traffic and hit the bicyclist.

He said traffic citations may be forthcoming against the driver of the vehicle.
