Richard L. Elliott, 93, passed away Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022, at Baystate Medical Center.

He was born July 24, 1929, to the late Francis and Jennie (Tague) Elliott.

Richard was born and raised in Butler and attended Butler High School until he joined the United States Army. He worked in retail and manufacturing for many years until he transferred to western Massachusetts, where he worked at Meadows Pools in Agawam. He later worked as a tool-and-die maker before retiring in the 1990s.

He loved to square dance and participated at the 300-year anniversary of Westfield with the Pioneer Valley Square Dance Club. He was also a longtime member of Mount Moriah Lodge, where he was a past master in 1981.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Eunice (Keesy) Elliott; and his son, Timothy E. Elliott.

He leaves behind his daughter, Judy LaRusse, and her husband Sean, of Springfield; and son, James Elliott, and his partner Shirley DeNardo, of Westfield. Richard also leaves behind seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

ELLIOTT — Calling hours for Richard L. Elliott, who died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022, will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in FIRTION-ADAMS FUNERAL SERVICE, 76 Broad St., Westfield, Mass.

Burial will be private with full military honors in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam.

Donations in Richard’s name may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
