Robert “Bob” W. Stephens Jr.
Robert “Bob” W. Stephens Jr., 88, of Fenelton passed away on Thursday at the Newhaven Court at Clearview.
He was born Feb. 24, 1929, in Chicora, to the late Robert J. Stephens and the late Lillian Stevenson Stephens.
Mr. Stephens served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked in the shipping department at Witco Chemical Co. in Petrolia for 39 years before retiring in 1992.
Bob was of the Protestant faith and was a member of the American Legion Post 243, West Sunbury. He played banjo growing up in his Stephens Family Band. Bob enjoyed camping and boating.
He is survived by his loving wife Betty Jane Reed Stephens, whom he married on Aug. 8, 1953; son Robert J. Stephens and his wife, Kay, of Slippery Rock; daughter Linda Young and her husband, James, of Butler; six grandchildren, Robert Stephens Jr., Penny Geibel and her husband Sam, Mandy Roesel and her husband Dan, Corey Young and his wife Brianne, Bethany Young, and Sierra Stephens; seven great-grandchildren, Dakota Geibel, Savannah Geibel, Carter Roesel, Grady Roesel, Owen Roesel, Brennan Young and Brynne Young; a brother, Glenn Stephens and his wife, Sue, of Parker; two sisters, Charlotte Minnich of Kittanning and Twila Ritchey of Parker; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Candy Stephens; and three sisters, Pearl Thomas, Velma Vinesky and Bernice Fox.
The family would like to extend special thanks to his Newhaven Court family, who gave him special care for the last two years, and the Amedisys nurses who cared for him the past three months.
STEPHENS — Friends of Robert “Bob” W. Stephens Jr., who died Thursday, May 25, 2017, will be received from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev.
