Steiner’s Garage keeps family business trend going
Being the new business owner on the block comes with its challenges, but Jerry Steiner, owner of Steiner’s Garage at 301 S. Chestnut St. in Butler, has the experience to hold his own.
“The people here are pretty awesome,” Steiner said. “I've worked in Butler pretty much all my life at dealerships and various garages, but I’ve never owned my own business.”
Jerry has the help of his wife, Pam, his son, Leroy, and Brandon Cicon at his disposal, to assist with anything from motor swaps, transmission and engine repairs, inspections, oil changes and brake changes.
Steiner took over for Koeppen Alignment Service about a year ago at the same location he said, which had been in business for nearly 90 years.
Jerry said he is pleased to keep his business a family business, just as the Koeppen garage had with Martha and Frank Kennedy.
“He was wanting to sell and retire, and Jerry was wanting to open up his own shop,” Pam said. “We got the old alignments out and replaced them with new state of the art Hunter alignment machines.”
Jerry described his new alignment machines as state of the art and are so precise they can measure down to a thousandth of a degree.
He said word of mouth has helped his business out a lot as he tries to keep his prices as low as possible for his customers, especially the customers he has with the Butler Veterans Affairs.
“Everyone is raising their prices, and I'm trying really hard to keep mine a little bit lower and try to help out people,” Jerry said.
“Business has actually picked up a lot,” Jerry added. “I’m getting a lot of positive feedback from everybody.”
Steiner’s Garage is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
