Lawrence 'Bud' Wood

Lawrence E. "Bud" Wood, 90, of Hilliard Avenue, Chicora, died Sunday at Butler Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Kepples Corners, Fairview Township, Jan. 24, 1916, he was a son of John and Katy Corbett Wood.

He was a member of the Chicora United Methodist Church. He also belonged to the Chicora Volunteer Fire Department for 75 years.

Mr. Wood was a graduate of the Fairview Township Karns City High School and retired as maintenance foreman at the Koppers Chemical Co. in Petrolia in 1976 after 30 years.

Surviving are a son and his wife, William E. "Bill" Wood and Sara Jane of Chicora; two granddaughters and their husbands, Lisa Curry and Glen of Hopewell Township, Beaver County, and Melinda Dellen and George of Karns City; two great-grandsons, Sean and Griffin Curry, both of Hopewell Township; two step-grandsons, Steven Roudebush and his wife, Barbara, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Dennis Roudebush of Muncie, Ind.; six step-great-grandchildren, Alisha and Gregory Roudebush, both of Lower Burrell, and Joshua, Matthew and Daniel Roudebush, all of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Natalie Roudebush of Muncie; and a step-great-great-grandchild, Madalyn Roudebush of Lower Burrell.

His wife, the former Helen D. "Dot" Barney, who he married Sept. 3, 1938, died Dec. 31, 1998. He also was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Judith A. Holben Wood, who died Dec. 5, 1990; a sister, Mrs. Edith Lewis; and two step-great-granddaughters, Carolyn Roudebush, who died Dec. 25, 1997, and Brittany Roudebush, who died Aug. 15, 2005.

WOOD — Friends of Lawrence E. "Bud" Wood, who died Sunday, March 5, 2006, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the RICHARD D. HILLIS FUNERAL HOME, 102 Argyle St., Petrolia. Visitation also will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Chicora United Methodist Church, where services will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Glea Foster officiating. Burial will follow at the Hemphill Cemetery, Chicora.Memorial donations may be made to the Chicora Volunteer Fire Department, Chicora, PA 16025.
