William L. Binder

William L. "Bill" Binder, 59, of Evans City died Tuesday at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Born Jan. 25, 1945, in Evans City, he was the son of the late Harry S. Piper and the late Mae Elizabeth Martin Piper.

He was a self-employed general contractor.

Mr. Binder was a well-known local athlete. He enjoyed collecting Civil War relics and researching the war, and was a member of the Friends of Gettysburg.

He was also a Mason and a member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Cranberry Township.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Beth Cheriana Binder, whom he married Aug. 1, 1981; a son, Alexander William Binder of Evans City; two daughters, Stephanie Van Domelon and Gwen Binder, both of Georgia; a sister, Mrs. William (Loretta) Foster of Delaware; and two brothers, Carl Binder of Florida and Harry "Skip" Piper of Texas.

He is also survived by three grandchildren.
