Raymond Ernest Montag, 89, of Butler passed away Wednesday at ConcordiaCare in Cabot surrounded by his loving family.

He was born July 8, 1920, in Cabot, the son of the late Frank B. and Elizabeth (Zeisler) Montag.

Raymond was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Saxonburg.

He was veteran of the U.S. Army.

He belonged to many organizations including being a past master of Victory Lodge 694, Scottish Rite of New Castle, Syria Temple, Butler Shrine Luncheon Club, Butler Shrine Caravan 14, Royal Arch Council 173 and the Acacia Club.

Raymond was an agent for State Farm Insurance for 36 years.

Surviving are three sons, Jack and Sharon Montag, Chuck and Patty Montag, and Rick and Janet Montag; two daughters, Carol and Bill Gregory and Amy and Carl Smith; 11 grandchildren, Douglas (Brenda) Gregory, Tammy (Rob) Brenenborg, Dale (Beverly) Montag, Michael (Sherry) Montag, Laura (Roger) Gregory, Michele (Jeff) Colvard, Kelly (Jeff) Kramlich, Matthew (Christina) Montag, Colleen (Bob) Ready, Lindsey (Seth) Burtner and Taylor Smith; 16 great-grandchildren, Kolby, Adam and Shayna Gregory, Lorraine Krelko, Christopher and Ashley Heasley, Luke and Mason Montag, Sarah and Oliviah Montag, Zachary and Gregory Wilbert, Jacob and Ethan Montag and Anna Ready and Kamryn Burtner.

He also was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa M. Mergel Montag, who died July 24, 2005; three brothers; and two sisters.

<B>MONTAG</B> — Friends of Raymond Ernest Montag, who died Wednesday, June 30, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>Young Funeral Home</B>, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler. Visitation also will be from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Main Street, Saxonburg, where the funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m. with his pastor, the Rev. Roger Keller, officiating.
