Peter 'Pete' Lewis Miano Jr.
Peter “Pete” Lewis Miano Jr., 64, of Butler passed away Thursday at his home surrounded by his loving family after a long courageous battle with cancer.
He was born Dec. 17, 1947, in Butler, to the late Peter Lewis Miano Sr. and Josephine Veronica (Christafano) Miano.
Mr. Miano owned and operated Mianos Welding for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. Mr. Miano coached girls softball for “The Minnows” for years and taught welding at Lenape Vocational Technical School.
Mr. Miano enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family, fishing on his pontoon boat and going to car cruises with his 1967 Mustang. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War.
Mr. Miano is survived by his wife, Deborah Jane, who he married on March 18, 1977; one son, Patrick D. Vensel and his wife, Barbara, of Hampsted, Md.; one daughter, Paula Haas and her husband, Thomas, of Butler; five grandchildren, Zachary S. Oddo, Courtney P. Oddo, Luke A. Haas, Shelby Q. Vensel and Jeffrey Rogus; three sisters, Angela (Rhienhold) Dally of Butler, Dolores Anderson of Butler and Patricia Weber of Cleveland, Ohio; nine nieces, and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
MIANO — Friends of Peter “Pete” Lewis Miano Jr., who passed away Thursday, June 7, 2012, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Pastor Joel A.
