Bernstine suffers seizure; says not a significant setback
State Rep. Aaron Bernstine, R-10th, suffered an ailment that sent him to an emergency room.
In a news release Thursday, Sept. 1, Bernstine said he visited an emergency room early Wednesday morning and that he had suffered a nonepileptic seizure.
“I have already gained most of my dexterity back, and my physician expects a full and swift recovery,” Bernstine said.
Bernstine has served as the District 10 representative, which serves parts of Butler, Lawrence and Beaver counties, since 2017.
The House next convenes Sept. 12.
“I am ready to get back to the important work that we need to do in Harrisburg before this legislative session concludes,” Bernstine said.
Bernstine is seeking re-election, though in a new district due to redistricting. Bernstine defeated fellow Republicans Eric Ditullio and John L. Kennedy in the May 17 primary election.
Lacking a Democratic candidate, he is running unopposed in the November general election.
After the 2022 redistricting of state legislature boundaries, in addition to Lawrence County, the 8th District consists of Butler County's Brady, Center, Clay, Connoquenessing, Forward, Franklin, Lancaster, Middlesex, Muddy Creek, Penn and Worth townships; and Connoquenessing, Portersville, Prospect, West Liberty and West Sunbury boroughs.
New to the district are Connoquenessing, Forward, Middlesex, Penn and Lancaster townships, as well as Connoquenessing and Prospect boroughs.
Some municipalities have moved to other restructured districts, including Cherry, Marion and Mercer townships, as well as Harrisville borough.
