Victim Outreach Intervention Center hosts 6th annual 5K
Each year, advocates, survivors, and allies recognize October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
On Oct. 2, Victim Outreach Intervention Center (VOICe) is partnering with the Barto family to reignite local conversation about domestic violence – and to honor the memory of their daughter, sister, cousin, and friend, Melissa “Missy” Barto, who was murdered by her boyfriend on June 8, 2017.
VOICe has worked alongside the Barto family to host a 5K that both honors her memory and raises awareness with the annual #GetNebby 5K.
The 6th annual #GetNebby 5K will take the track on at Alameda Park. The race begins at 9 a.m., participants can arrive at 8am to pick up materials and register if needed. Runners and walkers alike can also pre-register at the website, https://bpt.me/5530444, prior to Sept. 25.
