Genevieve Mae Sherwin

Genevieve Mae Sherwin, 79, of Bruin Road, Petrolia, went to be with the Lord late Thursday evening at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital with her loving husband and family by her side.

Genevieve was born in Indiana, Pa., March 11, 1938. She was the daughter of Mervis and Pearl (Boarts) Crissman.

Genevieve graduated from Elderton High School. She was a homemaker and of the Protestant faith. She was an avid NASCAR fan, enjoyed watching her soap operas and decorating for the holidays.

She is survived by her husband, William Fredrick Sherwin, who was her faithful and loving caretaker for many years. The Sherwins were married at the Lutheran church in Shay, Armstrong County, Sept. 15, 1956.

Also surviving are two daughters, Tammy M. Myers and her husband, Shawn, of Rimersburg and Sherry Atkison and her husband, Ronald, of Thorn Run Road, Chicora; a son, Keith R. Sherwin and his wife, Sandy, of Terwilliger Road, Parker; seven grandchildren, Tiffany Kelly, Taylor Boots, Matthew Myers, Dylan Atkison, Asti Atkison, Gregory Sherwin and Jonathan Sherwin; two great-granddaughters, Alyia Adams and Chloe Kelly; as well as a number of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sherwin was preceded in death by a son, William F. Sherwin Jr.; and two grandchildren, Jason Kelly and Danielle Kelly.

SHERWIN — Friends of Genevieve Mae Sherwin, who died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hile Funeral Home, 128 Main St., Karns City.A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, also at the funeral home.Interment will be at Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington.Memorial contributions in Mrs. Sherwin's memory may be made to the Butler County Humane Society by visiting www.butlercountyhs.org.For more information or to send a condolence, please visit www.hilefh.com.
