Colleen Hooks

Colleen Catherine Hooks, 77, of Manorville, formerly of Applewold, died Wednesday at ACMH Hospital in Kittanning.

Born Aug. 27, 1929, she was the daughter of Lysle Alvin and Martha Minerva Morrow Pitner.

A homemaker, she was a member of North Buffalo Grace Brethren Church.

She worked for many years on the Applewold election board and was a member of the Applewold ladies auxiliary.

She enjoyed attending the Armstrong County Folk Festival and helping her daughter produce and sell pottery.

After suffering from paralysis, she worked to regain the use of her hands, which enabled her to continue participating in a church ministry, corresponding with shut-ins.

Mrs. Hooks is survived by two sons, John Y. Hooks Jr. of Kittanning and Aaron Lysle Hooks of Warsaw, Ind.; two daughters, Sylvia Hooks of Manorville and Sharon Hooks of Kittanning; a foster daughter, Sandra Olinger of Kittanning; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Y. Hooks Sr., who died in 1994; two brothers and a sister.

<B>HOOKS — </B>Friends of Colleen Catherine Hooks, who died Wednesday, June 27, 2007, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at <B>Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home</B>, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at North Buffalo Grace Brethren Church, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. The services will be officiated by the Revs. Robert Burns and Richard H. Cornwell, both of North Buffalo Grace Brethren Church, and the Rev. Daniel Kaminski of Grace Baptist Church. Burial will be in Kittanning Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to the Awana program at North Buffalo Grace Brethren Church.
