Barbara Marie Weidenhof, 77, of West Liberty passed away at 7:35 a.m. Wednesday at the VNA Hospice in Butler following a four-year battle with cancer.

She was born in New York City on May 22, 1939, to Carl and Marie Eulaie Dugal Bosch. She married Frederick Walter “Fred” Weidenhof on Feb. 24, 1962.

Barbara retired as head cashier for Friedman's Supermarket in Butler and served as West Liberty borough secretary for many years.

In her younger years, she and her husband often took their family camping and she had been active as a leader with the Girl Scouts.

She enjoyed camping, sewing, baking, making soup to share with neighbors, gardening and solving sudoku puzzles.

Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Slippery Rock, where she had participated for more than 15 years in Eucharist Chapel.

Survivors include her husband, Fred, at home; four daughters, Janis M. Allison and husband, Ronald G., of Slippery Rock, Linda A. Finecey and husband, M. Troy, of West Liberty, Beverly A. Barron and husband, Daniel J., of Slippery Rock, and Christina R. Dailey and husband, David E., of Grove City; two brothers, Richard C. Bosch and Edmund G. Bosch and wife, Shelia, all of West Liberty; seven grandchildren, Amanda L. Miller, Christopher R. W. “Boomer” Barron, Jessica L. Gagliotti, Heather R. Finecey, Shawn M. Dailey, Ronald Seth Allison, and Abigail R. Dailey; and four great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Francis “Fritz” Bosch.

WEIDENHOF — A funeral Mass for Barbara Marie Weidenhof, who died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016, will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, North Main Street, Slippery Rock, with the Rev. Robert Seeman presiding.Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.Interment will be in West Liberty Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given to VNA Inpatient Hospice Unit, Technology Drive, Butler.
