Vivianne Cerny
Vivianne Marie Cerny, 3, of Butler, passed away on Sept. 10, 2022.
As you may or may not know, we were told in utero at 10 weeks that our precious baby girl had Trisomy 18 and terminating the pregnancy was the best option. If we decided not to, we were told, the baby would probably terminate herself. Right away we started to research this devastating diagnosis experts say is “not compatible with life.” Throughout our very scary pregnancy, we needed to do things like make a birthing plan with palliative care, or decide whether or not to give our baby oxygen or watch her pant without being able to breathe, or give her pain medication to make her comfortable during her small window of life. We were also advised to have funeral arrangements ready for when she passed away.
We decided to leave these decisions in the Lord’s hands. At 39 weeks, we went into the hospital to induce labor. Scared and anxious, we did not know what to expect.
The day we had been dreading — not knowing what the outcome would be — was one of the happiest days of our lives. Vivianne Marie was born — a true miracle. She was perfect in our eyes!
We were given 1,266 days with our precious little girl here on Earth. Every moment of every day was filled with a lifetime’s worth of memories and blessings. Her personality and smile would light up a room. She loved to dance and sing with Mama, “patty-cake“ with Daddy, jump upside-downsy with Pappy and hang out with Grammy and Sissy Madison. Her favorite song was “Itsy Bitsy Spider.” Her all-time favorite things to do were bath time and cuddling. If you knew her, your life is changed forever. Now Vivianne is resting peacefully in the arms of our great Father.
Vivianne was born on March 23, 2019, in Pittsburgh. She was the daughter of Phillip Cerny and Rose Nicolazzo Cerny, of Butler.
She is survived by her parents; her sister, Madison Cerny, of Butler; her maternal grandparents, Michael and Patricia Nicolazzo; and many cousins and friends who loved her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Maryann and Miloslav Cerny; and also by family and friends who are celebrating with her in Heaven.
