A Parker man, who was a passenger in a car, died Thursday night when the car hit an embankment and a utility pole in Armstrong County.

David J. Burk, 40, was pronounced dead at Clarion Hospital following the accident on North Riverview Drive, just south of Easy Street, in Hovey Township, state police said.

The driver, William J. Burk, 35, also of Parker, suffered minor injuries. The accident took place just after 11 p.m. when, police said, the driver lost control of a Toyota Scion TC while traveling north and struck an embankment. The car then hit a utility pole and came to rest facing south, police said.

It was unknown Friday whether the men were related.

Both were taken to Clarion Hospital, where the elder Burk died from the injuries he suffered in the crash, police said.

The accident is under investigation, police said. The Parker City Volunteer Fire Department and Knox Area Ambulance also responded to the crash.
