Flora Viola Moore
Flora Viola "Flossie" Moore, 91, of East Brady Heights, formerly of Bruin, passed away at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday at Butler Hospital following a period of failing health.
She was born in Richland Township, Venango County, Nov. 16, 1918, and was a daughter of the late Walter Romain Maxwell and Ella Pearl Barger Maxwell.
She was a former member of the Martinsburg Presbyterian Church in Bruin and most recently was a member of the East Brady Baptist Church.
She had been employed by the Karns City School District as a cafeteria worker, cook and sometimes as a member of the janitorial staff at the Bruin Elementary School, retiring in 1980 after 28 years.
She married Creed A. Moore on March 5, 1938, and he preceded her in death on June 10, 1958.
Surviving are a son, Creed Leslie Moore and his wife, Violet, of the Karns City Petrolia Road, Karns City; a daughter, Shirley Evans of Butler; a grandson, Timothy Moore of Kittanning; three great-granddaughters, Christine Nye and her husband, Justine, of Hermitage, Kayla Moore of Butler and Tabitha Moore of Kittanning; two great-great-grandchildren, Kyra Nye of Hermitage and Aiden Nye of Hermitage; a sister, Bessie M. Byers of Petrolia; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Clarence Maxwell, Earl Maxwell and Frank Maxwell; and three sisters, Anna I. Knox, Martha Maxwell and Maude Maxwell.
<B>MOORE</B> — Friends of Flora Viola "Flossie" Moore, who died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Richard D. Hillis Funeral Home </B>in Petrolia. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Mark E. Hillwig, pastor of the East Brady Baptist Church, officiating.
