Donald Eugene 'Cowboy' McKinney
Donald Eugene “Cowboy” McKinney, 78, of West Sunbury passed away at 5:05 p.m. Saturday at the Butler VNA Inpatient Hospice.
He was born July 1, 1933, in Concord Township, to the late George Starch McKinney and the late Anna Christie McKinney.
He had been employed at Penreco as a backhoe operator and was a lifelong farmer. He also was a township supervisor for Concord Township for 30 years.
Mr. McKinney was a member of the Concord Presbyterian Church.
He was a friend to the Amish community in Clintonville and provided rides and helped move 16 families from the Clintonville area to Carrollton, Ohio.
He enjoyed pulling horses and attending car cruises in his 1940 Ford coupe.
He is survived by four daughters, Judith (John) Martsolf of Boyers, Nancy (Chuck) Porter of Slippery Rock, Barb (Don) Campbell of West Sunbury and Debbie Bryan of Slippery Rock; and one son Gary (Diane) McKinney of Harrisville. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one brother, Fred (Shirley) McKinney of Chicora.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Cumberland McKinney, who passed away July 28, 2007; one sister, three brothers, and one grandchild.
<B>MCKINNEY</B> — Friends of Donald Eugene “Cowboy” McKinney, who died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, will be received at the <B>William F. Young Funeral Home</B>, 132 Main St., West Sunbury, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Kevin Channells of the Concord Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery.
