Truck crash slows traffic for 7 hours Saturday night on I-79

A tractor-trailer crash at around 11 p.m. Saturday night near mile marker 92 on Interstate 79 took around seven hours for crews to clear.

A Butler County dispatcher Sunday said the single-vehicle crash resulted in one male being transported with a head injury. The dispatcher also said the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency was concerned about the crash because the involved trailer was a refrigerated vehicle carrying French fries.

According to dispatch, the state Department of Agriculture was also notified about the crash.

State police, Harmony Fire District, Portersville Muddy Creek Township Volunteer Fire Department, Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company and Harmony EMS responded to the crash, and Prospect VFD assisted with traffic control, according to dispatch.
