Street sweeper, box truck collide; 1 taken to hospital
One female driver was taken to a nearby trauma center for minor injuries following a collision between a street sweeper and a box truck Friday morning in Adams Township.
The crash occurred at 10 a.m. on Route 228 at Adams Ridge Boulevard.
According to Keith Singleton, deputy chief of Quality EMS, the female driver of the street sweeper was trapped inside her vehicle.
“We were able to put an EMT in the vehicle with the help of Adams’ fire department,” he said. “We worked closely together to get the patient extracted very rapidly. The cooperation was amazing.”
The female driver was transported to a nearby trauma center, Singleton said.
“We believe the injuries to be minor at this point,” he said. “The reason for the trauma center was to make sure the patient gets the best treatment possible.”
The Adams Area Fire District, Adams Township police, a fire department from Allegheny County, Callery and Cranberry volunteer fire companies and Quality EMS responded to the crash.
