It is with great sadness that we share the news that after a courageous eight-year battle with cancer, Janet M. (Schnaubelt) Rice of Cranberry Township passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022. She was born on Feb. 26, 1955 in Pittsburgh.

She was the beloved wife of William R. Rice, whom she married May 1, 1976; loving mother of the late Heather (Rice) Watson, and son William Rice; treasured grandmother of Makenzie Watson and Christopher Rice, whom she loved more than anybody; daughter of the late Stephen and Elizabeth Schnaubelt; dear sister of Stephanie Cipriani (Dan), Susan Marculaitis (Jeff), Mary Ann Tishko (Mark), Stephen Schnaubelt (Kathy), and the late Michael Schnaubelt. She also is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Janet graduated from St. Justin High School in 1973 and Shadyside School of Nursing in 1975, and she went on to graduate from Geneva College. She worked as a nurse at Shadyside Hospital for 25 years, then worked for Drager Medical until retiring in 2020. Janet was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and great friend. Janet loved cruising, and she is taking her last cruise to Heaven. She will be sorely missed and loved forever.

RICE — Friends of Janet M. (Schnaubelt) Rice, who died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2022, will be received for visitation from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople, PA 16063.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Gregory Catholic Church — Divine Grace Parish, 2 W. Beaver St., Zelienople.

Janet will be laid to rest beside her daughter at English Lutheran Church Cemetery in Zelienople.
