Mike Miller of Chicora won the modified and super modified divisions of lawnmower racing Sunday at Shade Tree Speedway.Dave Lipscomb of Fenelton won the outlaw stock, Dwayne Shingledecker of Apollo the quads and Pat Dauman of Butler the karts.Steve Ace of Parker won the Josh Connor Memorial race. Shade Tree will hold its mid-season championship July 11.
The Butler County Chamber of Commerce hosted its 49th annual golf outing and dinner recently at Lake Arthur Country Club and Oakview Golf Club.More than 150 golfers participated. Sky Bank won the team event at Lake Arthur Country Club and Maher Duessel won the team event at Oakview.
Butler's Brian Minto improved his professional boxing record to 16-0 (9 KO) by knocking out Travis Fulton (8-6) in the second round Sunday in Niles, Ohio.Minto will face Cincinnati's Kevin Tallon at 7:30 p.m. next Wednesday at The Mountaineer Resort in Chester, W.Va. Robert McClellan of Olde Stonewall Golf Club and John Aubrey Sr. of Aubrey's Dubbs Dred finished second and third, respectively, at the Tri-State PGA's Callaway-Odyssey Classic Monday at Williams Country Club in Weirton, W. Va.McClellan fired a 35-33-68, one shot behind winner Roy Vucinich while Aubrey's 36-33-69 was good for a five-way tie for third place.Travis Dickson of Treesdale Golf and Country Club tied for eighth place by carding a 35-35-70.McClellan qualified to compete in the Pete Dye West Virginia Classic, a nationwide tour event, July 15-18 at the Pete Dye Club.Aubrey's score was good for second place in the Senior Event.
