Snow in the forecast, departments prepare
While temperatures are predicted to drop throughout the week leveling out in the mid-teens this weekend, November still is hovering above the average temperature for the month.
Matthew Kramar, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service Pittsburgh, said the average temperature in the region in November 2021 was 40.5 degrees, and as of Tuesday it is 53.6 degrees. However, he said the region is getting “shocked into winter,” as temperatures fall over the course of the week.
Despite the cold temperatures, Kramar said only light snow is in the forecast for most of the week.
“Wednesday it’s back up into the upper 40s, then it gets chilly,” Kramar said. “There is a low of 26 Wednesday night, it will be in the low 20s Thursday night, and a low in the mid teens Friday night. For the weekend, highs are below freezing.”
