Christie Carol Mackintosh Scott

Christie Carol Mackintosh Scott, 75, formerly of New Brighton, went home to be with her Lord on Friday after a series of medical problems.

Born in Staten Island, N.Y., the daughter of the late Donald F. and Mildred L. Mackintosh, she was raised in New York.

She attended Houghton College, N.Y., where she met her future husband, the late Milton Jay Scott. They graduated from Houghton College in 1964, where Christie excelled on multiple sports teams.

Christie and Milton were married Nov. 30, 1968, in Staten Island They spent most of their married life in New Brighton on a small farm where they raised their four children.

Christie taught elementary school first in Spring Valley, N.Y., and then in Plan 11, Aliquippa.

While her children were young she worked part time at other jobs, including, with Milt, renovating numerous homes in the area. Christie worked most recently for many years as a caseworker at the Beaver County Office on Aging, the job she loved.

Christie impacted many lives over the years with her welcoming spirit, light-hearted wit, generosity and genuine care for people.

Christie found joy in serving others, especially those who needed help the most. She and Milton participated in numerous mission trips to various parts of Africa, many through Concordia Lutheran Ministries, where she and Milton served on the board and various committees.

She and Milt were faithful members of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Freedom, Pa., and most recently of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Cabot.

Whether Christie was teaching her children and grandchildren to play sports, working outdoors, singing in the church choir, cheering for the Steelers or defeating a younger competitor at tennis or racquetball, her energy and enthusiasm were infectious.

She loved the ocean and any outdoor activities, athletics of all kinds, travel, singing and spending time with family.

She was known by her loved ones for her faith in God, fun-loving competitive nature, her sweet tooth and taking pride in her family.

She will be missed greatly by her family including, her sons, Greg (Geri) Scott of Southampton, N.J., Jon (Heather) Scott of Mars, Doug (Melissa) Scott of New Castle; her daughter, Becky (Andy) Maxwell of Flower Mound, Texas; her brothers, Don (Dian) Mackintosh of Manassas, Va., Doug (Jenn) Mackintosh of South Boston, Va., and Rob (Anne) Mackintosh of Advance, N.C.; her sister-in-law, Doris Scott of Allendale, Mich.; her niece, Tara (Cameron) Tucker of Wampum, Pa.; her nieces, Anna, Allison, Rachel and Leigh; and her nephew, Brian; her grandchildren, Sandra, Lucy, Abigail, Nolan, Adam, Marie, Luke, Tyler and Katelyn; her grandnephews, Hayden and Jack; and by many dear friends.

SCOTT — Friends of Christie Carol Mackintosh Scott, who died Friday, April 13, 2018, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars.A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 330 Hannahstown Road, Cabot.Please meet at the church.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Concordia Lutheran Ministries, 134 Marwood Road, Cabot, PA 16023 or to Beaver County Christian School, Beaver Falls, PA 15010.Directions and condolences are available at www.mcdonald-aeberli.com.
