Fred C. Wetzel
Fred C. Wetzel, 80, of Sarver died Thursday at his home of a heart attack while recuperating from pneumonia.
Born Jan. 31, 1931, in Natrona Heights, he was the son of John Wetzel and Mabel Barkley.
Fred enrolled in the U.S. Army and served just after World War II during the occupation of Japan from 1946-1948.
He was employed for 42 years as a skilled carpenter for Allegheny Ludlum in Brackenridge, retiring at the age of 62.
He built the only two houses he lived in during his marriage. He enjoyed his grandchildren's activities, travel, current events, working in his yard, and anything mechanical. He had spent the last 18 winters in Surfside Beach, S.C., playing golf and boccie ball
Surviving are his wife, Ann Duceour Wetzel, who he married Nov. 27, 1954; his son, Mark (Colette) Wetzel of McLean, Va.; his daughter, Joy (Dennis) Cardinale of Twinsburg, Ohio; and seven grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alex, Patrick, Megan, Erin, Julieann and Hannah.
He is preceded in death by his oldest son, Fred W. Wetzel; his parents; and two brothers, Jack Wetzel and Don Wetzel
