Man accused of assault with a Christmas tree

A Saxonburg man is being accused of assaulting someone with a Christmas tree, according to charges filed Wednesday.

State police charged Michael A. Bandi, 35, misdemeanor simple assault and harassment following an incident Tuesday.

Police said they responded to a dispute in Jefferson Township around 10:15 p.m. that evening. A woman reported that she and Bandi were engaged in a verbal argument that turned physical.

During the altercation, the woman told police Bandi grabbed the Christmas tree and struck her in the face with it. Bandi proceeded to throw the Christmas tree at the woman, striking her again, according to charging documents.

Police said they arrived on scene and observed a bloody cut on the woman’s forehead.

Bandi will appear for a preliminary hearing Dec. 14. He is being held in Butler County Prison in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
