Isabelle C. Knox

Isabelle C. Knox, 81, of West Pittsburgh died Friday at the Jameson Care Center in New Castle.

She was born in Butler Jan. 29, 1923, to Henry L. and Florence M. Hutchison Herold.

Mrs. Knox was co-owner of the Croton Hardware Store for 34 years until she retired in 1984. She also had worked for Herold's Dairy and Olson's Dairy, both in Butler.

She was a member of the Prime Timers group, the Wimodausis, the West Pittsburgh Card Club and the O.F.T. Card Club.

She enjoyed travelling, playing cards, reading and baking.

She also belonged to the Highland Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda C. Hart of Duncansville and Cynda K. Hayden of Mason, Ohio; two sons, Gary W. Knox of Tallahassee, Fla., and Randy A. Knox of New Castle; three brothers, Charles Herold of Colorado Springs, Colo., Lee Herold of Orlando, Fla., and Leonard Herold of Butler; and one sister, Penny Valensky of Butler.

Five grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne C. Knox, who she married on April 5, 1946, and who died Feb. 16, 1986, and a sister.

She filled our lives with joy and love and laughter, and so she is missed.

- Friends of Isabelle C. Knox, who died Friday, Aug. 27, 2004, will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at R. CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, Wilmington Road, New Castle.Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Clyde officiating.Burial will be at Greenlawn Burial Estates.
