Lois E. Cockroft

Lois E. Cockroft, 89, of Butler, formerly of Chicora, died at 12:35 a.m. Thursday in Butler Memorial Hospital after a short illness.

Born Dec. 21, 1916, in Chicora, he was the daughter of Ray Randall and Wiheminia "Minnie" Ellenberger Hemphill.

She was a life long member of St. John's Reformed Church in Chicora, where she taught Sunday school and was the church organist for a time. She was a member of the Ladies Aid of the church.

She married John E. Cockroft Oct. 5, 1942, and he died Oct. 24, 1992.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Diane) Goodwin of Honolulu, Hawaii; three grandchildren, Raymond J. Sedwick of Massachusetts, and Brooke E. and Emily P. Goodwin of Hawaii; and a son-in-law, Raymond Keith Sedwick and his wife, Judy, of Chicora.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kay Sedwick; a brother, James R. Hemphill; and an infant brother Randall Hemphill.

<B>COCKROFT</B> — Friends of Lois E. Cockroft, who died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the <B>Steighner Funeral Home</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock St., Chicora.Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from St. John's Reformed Church, 334 W. Slippery Rock St., Chicora, with Robert Miller, lay minister of St. John's Reformed Church, officiating.Burial will be in St. John's Reformed Cemetery, Chicora.
