Raymond J. Usell Sr.
Raymond J. Usell Sr., 95, of Butler died Friday evening at St. John’s Specialty Care in Mars.
Born April 13, 1917, in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a son the late Joseph and Anna (Capek) Usell.
He had worked as a salesman for Mosebach Electric for 25 years, retiring in 1979.
He was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler, the Pittsburgh Musician’s Union and the Florida Musician’s Union. He played the saxophone in a band and was also an avid golfer.
Surviving are his wife, Diana H. (Tutek) Usell, who he married Nov. 23, 1938; two sons, Raymond J. (Elaine) Usell Jr. Ph.D. of Poway, Calif., and Robert G. (Lorie) Usell of Temecula, Calif.; two daughters, Diane (David) Sobolewski of Indiana, Pa., and Janet (Jeffrey) Wigton of Butler; 10 grandchildren, Grant Usell, Lori (Dave) Copeland, Kent (Maleea) Usell, Michael (Maria) Sobolewski, Michele Sobolewski, Nick Sobolewski, Jennifer Wigton, Ann (Travis) Reges, Tom Wigton and James Usell; seven great-grandchildren, Westley Copeland, Connor Copeland, Duncan Copeland, Ryan Usell, Derek Usell, Meredith Sobolewski and Lauren Sobolewski.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard, and a sister, Beatrice.
USELL — Friends of Raymond J. Usell Sr., who died Friday, Jan, 4, 2013, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday.
