Anna Elizabeth Glynn Mellish, 92, of East Brady, Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County, died at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday at Butler Memorial Hospital after an illness.

She was born in Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County, Aug. 9, 1917, the daughter of the late James F. Glynn and the late Mary Ann Brownfield Glynn.

She was a graduate of Butler High School and of Slippery Rock University, where she received a bachelor's in teaching.

She taught several years in the Sugarcreek Township schools. She went to Kittanning, where she taught first grade in the Central Building. She returned to the Armstrong School District, where she taught in Sherrett and the Bradys Bend schools.

She enjoyed her family and friends.

She was a member of the former St. Patrick Chapel of Sugarcreek, where she belonged to the Altar-Rosary Society. She presently was a member of the St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Bradys Bend. She also belonged to the Butler County Association of School Retirees and the State Association of School Retirees.

Surviving are three sons, Richard L. Mellish of East Brady, James J. Mellish of East Brady and Thomas G. Mellish of Kittanning; two daughters, Mary Ann Rawson and her husband, Ben, of Pittsburgh and Kathleen L. Mellish of East Brady; two grandsons, Mark and José Balza of Pittsburgh; and a great-grandson, José Balza Jr. of Pittsburgh.

She married Anthony E. Mellish on June 19, 1946, and he died March 3, 1983. She also was preceded in death by a brother, James Glynn Jr.; and two sisters, Cecilia Glynn and Ida Josephine Double.

<B>MELLISH</B> — Friends of Anna Elizabeth Glynn Mellish, who died Wednesday, June 30, 2010, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the <B>STEIGHNER FUNERAL HOME</B>, 111 E. Slippery Rock and Main streets in Chicora. A blessing service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald L. Cyktor Jr., pastor of the St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Bradys Bend, officiating.
