Driver cited in ATV crash that injured girl
CHERRY TWP — State police cited a Harmony woman for illegally driving an all-terrain vehicle that crashed Wednesday night, injuring a teenage girl.
Stephanie E. Walter, 28, lost control of the ATV about 10:30 p.m. while making a left-hand turn on Roenigk Road just east of Ferguson Road in Cherry Township.
The vehicle overturned and struck a street, according to a police report.
Walter's passenger, a 14-year-old Boyers girl, who police did not identify, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with apparent minor injuries. Her condition was not known Friday.
Walter was not injured. Neither rider was wearing a helmet, the report said.
Police noted that ATVs are illegal for street use and on Friday they issued Walter two tickets — one for operating the vehicle on a street and the other for driving an unregistered vehicle.
The Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department and Slippery Rock EMS assisted police at the scene.
