John S. Bumbaco Sr
John S. Bumbaco Sr., 70, of Pine Township, Grove City, passed away at 11:50 p.m. Monday following a courageous battle with cancer.
John was born March 1, 1947, in Grove City, to Joseph Sr. and Rose Mary Pettinato Bumbaco. He married Susan A. Crawford on Sept. 23, 1966. She survives at home.
He retired from Cooper Energy Service in 2000 following 28 years of service in the foundry. In 1977, he reopened his father's shoe repair service, which his son continues to operate to this day.
John attended Grove City schools and was a longtime member of Forestville United Methodist Church.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping with his family in Delaware and taking his classic car to cruises. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.
In addition to his wife, John is survived a daughter, Lisa Marshall, and her husband, Rich; son, John S. Bumbaco Jr., and his wife, Heidi, all of Grove City; four grandchildren, Hannah and Melinda Bumbaco, Noah McLaughlin and Abigail Marshall.
His parents; five sisters, Julia Surrena, Rose Dydek, Carmella DeWitt, Jenny Bumbaco and Josephine Baughman; and a brother, Joseph Bumbaco Jr., preceded him in death.
BUMBACO — Visitation for John S. Bumbaco Sr., who died Monday, June 5, 2017, will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to noon Friday at Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.The funeral service will be at noon Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Jean Smith of Forestville United Methodist Church officiating.Memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to Forestville United Methodist Church, 124 Boyers Road, Forestville, PA 16035.
